I have read your post with interest and have one question if you care to answer. Assuming you were in the President's shoes in the twelve or so months following 9/11 what action would you have taken? This is not intended as an argumentative question, but rather one which elicits your thinking assuming you were in the Oval Office.

Agree agree agree agree.

Well said and something that no only everyone should read but come up with a solution for this dilemma... It's going to go on and on and it is not going to stop by ennui... It has to have the majority of Americans start to do something about it...

You know over one million women marched on Washington DC about four week ago. Fox News reported 50.000 Another station say fewer than 70.000 but it was finally tallied as over one million... AND all of these women opposed taking away a Women' right to choose, the war in Iraq and all of them were against Bush... Now, that's a million plus Americans and it's not even reported by the mainstream media, albeit C.Span did cover the entire march.

Someone someone, something has got to light the fire... And my fear is that we will have another terrorist attack on our homeland and this will just ignite more fervor in terms of going on AFTER THE TERRORISTS in the wrong Country and OBL is out there still planning more strategic moves.

John,

I'm sure the regular contributors to this thread know the difference between goal and method of the terrorists.

Look at our reaction:

OK, let's take a look at our reaction

1. We’ve fought two wars;

Excuse, me? We are still fighting two wars....not past tense. Just because we don't hear about Afghanistan on the nightly news, doesn't mean we aren't engaged.

2. We’ve thrown our government into a crippling deficit;

As a percentage, our deficit is no larger than it has been in the past.

3. We’ve marginalized our most stabilizing international institution, NATO;

NATO was marginalized when the Soviet Union fell. NATO was created to stand up to the big Red Bear. And how did the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic fall? It was because we had a leader, Ronald Reagan, who had the balls, foresight, and wherewithall to stand up to them....and not try to appease them.

4. We’ve marginalized the second most important international institution, the UN;

Aw, c'mon. The UN? What a bunch of whiny ass cry babies, who have proven that they're corrupt and that the only thing they're capable of doing is.....handing out food.....of which, is mostly supplied by the United States of America.

5. We’ve repealed many of our legal freedoms;

Whether you or anybody else wants to face it....we are at WAR!. With that being said.... name me one legal freedom that you...yourself...has lost.

6. We’ve created animosity towards the US throughout the world;

Oh??? Like there wasn't animosity already. The "world" has always admired and despised us. Freedom is a concept that unknown to most countries and people. They want to come here to be "free", and yet when we are asked to do what nobody else can or will do, they despise us??? WTF is up with that??? ENVY, JEALOUSY? These are two powerful human emotions that cause people to act/react in an illogical manner.

7. We've destabilized the region that sets the price for the lifeblood commodity of our economy;

It's about God Damned time somebody slapped these people. The thought of uncivilized nations that can't even build a decent outhouse....let alone, use it....dictate to the free world what it's going to cost to turn on their lights or start their car is unfathomable. This "region" is not heading for the toilet because of our destabilization...hell, it's never found it's way out of the toilet. If there wasn't oil there, along with our ability to produce it for them....these people would be eating sand.

8. We’ve polarized our domestic politics to the point of dysfunction.

Sorry, I have to throw the 'Bullshit' flag on this one. Our domestic politics became polarized when the democrats started losing power. After controlling Congress for nearly 50 years and leading us into the welfare state, they go beserk when the populace says, "Enough" and starts electing Republicans....10 or so years ago. Remember?

9. OBL is a huge success because we’ve given him exactly the reaction he wanted.

And what reaction is that? Is it the fear and irrational response that you stated earlier?

Let's see...Hmmmm...I'm sure there's not many Americans that are afraid of Osama Bin Laden. And our response has been anything but irrational in our declared war on those who would attack us. So could it be that the sorry Piece of Shit misjudged our reaction/response? I don't think he had planned on living like a hunted dog.

10. while we romp in Iraq....And we romp in Iraq....And we romp in Iraq while OBL makes his next plan...

You state this three times...I sure don't get where you come to the conclusion that we are romping in Iraq.

<font color=red> >>>>>Main Entry: 1romp
Pronunciation: 'rämp, 'romp
Function: noun
Etymology: partly alter. of 2ramp; partly alteration of ramp bold woman
1 : one that romps; especially : a romping girl or woman
2 a : high-spirited, carefree, and boisterous play b : something suggestive of such play: as (1) : a light fast-paced narrative, dramatic, or musical work usually in a comic mood (2) : an episode of lovemaking
3 : an easy winning pace; also : RUNAWAY <<<<<<<<
</font>

Somehow this definition doesn't work....or does it...in your opinion.

32 months after 9/11, and all we are doing is giving Al Qaeda recruiting tools. My WAG is that there are at least four times as many AL Qaeda operatives today as there were on 9/11.

Seriously? Is that what you think we're doing, is giving them recruiting tools? If so.....what is it that you propose we do? Run away?

And with what reasoning did you come up with the four times the amount of Al Qaeda operatives. Do you have access to information that is privy to others....or was it some number you plucked out of thin air?

If Al Qaeda and every other known terrorist wants to come to Iraq to shoot at Americans...let them. It saves us hunting the bastards down, whether there's 4 or 10 times more, now.

Make NO mistake about it....this war on terrorism is the battle for Western Civilization and will not be over soon, if ever.

The question is whether Americans have the stomach for it and the ability to carry on.
It seems many don't. They think by turning our heads the bad guys will go away.

It's ironic we can see photo after photo of Abu Ghraib, but we will never see footage of people jumping 110 floors from the World Trade Center.

Our opponents want to return to the Stone Age. I think we should oblige them in any manner that we fit.

Give 'em HELL George!!!!
