The lesson that has been learnt is that you better really have WMDs like nukes, or else you will be accused of having them and getting invaded.

North Korea was not invaded because it has nukes. Iraq exposed itself to invasion because it didn't have nukes. And looking at the way we are stuck in the tar pits of Iraq, in a few years Iran will ensure that it doesn't get invaded.
