Iranians were coming into Kurdish territiry at one point to fight with the Kurds..............perhaps it was some religious pact they had.

Regardless, the area is set for a religious nightmare and will erupt in civil war at some point.

Saddam kept order by his brutal nature but without his fear the sides are able to exercise their hatred for each other.

Much like Titov and Yugoslavia. We all know how that country erupted into chaos and ethnic cleansing when Titov died.
