Not so fast Bill. Bremer just said we would get out 6/30 if new iraqi govt asked us to.

That was a bluff. We won't be asked to. The Iraq leaders know the place would turn into anarchy without us at the moment.

That's a pretty safe statement, knowing they won't ask. The Iraqis know full well if we pull out, there will be civil war, and their country will be utterly dominated by Iraq's neighbors.

It will be years before the New Iraqi Army will be able to stand on its own. Even longer for an Iraqi Air Force and Navy to be constituted. Iraq is defenseless and divided without us, and they know it. That's why the polls have consistently shown Iraqis may resent the occupation, but overwhelmingly don't want us to leave.
