The only "sides to the story" are those eye-witnessed by John and his men (the truth), and those made up by political opponents hoping to destroy his reputation with slander.

I know Bushies are terrified about running their AWOL Bush against a true combat hero, but that's just the reality they're going to have to accept. To slander Kerry on his war record is lousy, dishonest and un-patriotic. Besides, look at the polls, it hasn't worked. Going negative does not seem to help Bush at all. Just the opposite. He has a 51% disapproval rating now thanks to all his negativity. No accident that today Bush started running positive ads.

I don't think what happened 35 years ago makes him a better candidate

Your in total denial.

What happened does matter - it goes to the question of character. That’s why these "chickenhawks" are really a pathetic bunch worthy of contempt. Too sissy to do the deed themselves Eg. Bush weaseled his way out of 'Nam but has no problem sending other people's children off to die in some cockamamie war in the middle east that has spun badly out of control. Bush talks tough "bring em on" but was passed out at the country club bar while Kerry was "takin' care of business"
