If I could voice an opinion, I have come around to believing in a mixed economy, private and government with real checks and balances on both.

As I see it, checks and balances have been eroded in the mad drive to support and expand business at any cost. I used to think the theory of competition was a good one and part of the checks and balances on business. Today this seems to have been discarded in favour of huge multi-national corporations, who operate with the implicit support of government. (Microsoft, Air Bus, Halliburton etc.) Not long ago they dismantled AT&T. It is a different world now.

Even the Socialists have thrown in the towel. Toby Blair of England was one of the first in his "third way policy".

There are few socialists left (pun intended). They are all capitalists now including Russia and China. There is no alternative....no vision. Big money has closed ranks. The New World Order. damn Cuba anyway.
