ak, A mixed economy is mixed. Vital stuff is socialized and every day stuff is capitalist. The question has never been about whether or not to have a mixed economy. The question is the percentages of the mix. Right wingers would like smaller but not no govt. Of course, since they are incompetent, govt. has grown larger under this right wing administration. Far lefties want much less in the hands of criminal corporations, but, since they are incompetent, capitalism usually flourishes under leftie govts. Righties want a strong stock market and we get it when lefties are in charge. Righties want to have rugged individualism, but the right-voting states get more from federal funds than the more prosperous left-voting states. It's all so much fun to watch.

Re: "mixed economy is socialism."

>>> No, it is not. Every nation on Earth now has a 'mixed economy' of one sort or another. There are no 100% pure Capitalist nations on the planet, just as there are no 100% pure Communist nations.

>>> I refer you to ANY intro-level economics text book that you can lay your hands on.

>>> ALL redistributive government programs are forms of Socialism... so, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran's benefits, Farm Price Supports, Corporate tax breaks, graduated taxes, etc., etc., all qualify.
