Oil at 21-Year High (Bush's last year in office)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oil prices vaulted to a 21-year high on Friday on fears that supplies, already stretched by world economic expansion, could be hit by an attack on Middle East oil facilities.

U.S. light crude settled up 30 cents at $41.38 a barrel after peaking at $41.56 to set an all-time high in the 21-year history of the New York Mercantile Exchange contract.

* I maintain it's no coincidence that we have two Texas oilmen in the White House and oil prices have been sky-high ever since they were first nominated, now peaking as they are at risk of being voted out of power. One last big gouging of consumers? Remember this also costs our government plenty too, especially burning up all the gas we need during a war. Huge-huge profiteering going on here.
