Hi Searle, Re: Are you suggesting that Berg was killed solely to take heat off the administration? Or was his death a fortunate and serendipitous coincidence which provided that opportunity? Neither, actually. His murder could have been perpetrated for any number of reasons. But the control of the media was, seemingly, quite deliberately designed to distract the American public from the ongoing Congressional hearings into purported acts of systematic torture. Additionally, the Bush Administration very conveniently used the murder of Nick Berg to argue (successfully so far) that the release of further inflammatory and damning photos and videos would endanger other kidnap victims in Iraq. Thus, suppressing the release of incriminating evidence that would tend to turn American opinion against the Iraq occupation.
