Thanks. I was impressed with Stans calculation, and as it's the morning here now, I did my own calculation.

The density of gold is 19.3. that is one cubic centimeter weighs 19.3 grams (doesn't look heavy from that POV), a cubic meter weighs 19.3 tonnes. So my math (if the effects of the real ale is not making me push the wrong buttons) says 50,000 tonnes is a 45.045 feet cube on a side and 125,000 tonnes is a 60.708 feet on a side.

I can only put about half of that in my basement. It's officially worthless now, so you can have the other half give or take a tonne or two -g-

The clear-visioned, level-headed former CENTCOM commander outlines the neocon's ten biggest mistakes related to the Iraq War. Good reading, from his comments on 5/12/04:
cdi.org

1)...the first mistake that will be recorded in history, the belief that containment as a policy doesn't work.

2) The second mistake I think history will record is that the strategy was flawed.

3) The third mistake, I think was one we repeated from Vietnam, we had to create a false rationale for going in to get public support.

4) We failed in number four, to internationalize the effort.

5) I think the fifth mistake was that we underestimated the task.

6) The sixth mistake, and maybe the biggest one, was propping up and trusting the exiles, the infamous "Gucci Guerillas" from London.

7) The seventh problem has been the lack of planning.

8) The eighth problem was the insufficiency of military forces on the ground.

9) The ninth problem has been the ad hoc organization we threw in there.

10) And that ad hoc organization has failed, leading to the tenth mistake, and that's a series of bad decisions on the ground.

We also have to stop the tough talk rhetoric.... Our whole public relations effort out there has been a disaster."

Now this is a General I could get behind as Kerry's VP.
