The American people are quite willing to fight to make the world a better and safer place for Americans

You've hit the nail on the head!

After 9/11, there was near universal support for taking the war to the terrorists - and Americans would have been willing to make the sacrifices needed.

Hi Bilow,

I admire the subtlety of this phrasing:

The American people are quite willing to fight to make the world a better and safer place for Americans,

As most know, I tend toward a blunter style. Unvarnished.....

The remaining and shrinking support for George Bush's illegal and immoral plundering of Iraq is supported mainly by those who hope to profiteer from the rape of Iraq. If these are "Americans" then I am the Queen of England.

George Bush needs to be prosecuted, not praised. He has besmirched the reputation of America, except the foul one it maintains for such villainy as the genocide of the native peoples of America, the mass kidnappings and forced labor permitted as the institution of "slavery" and the heinous and genocidal acts like the firebombing of Toyko and the nucular incineration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki for the sake of better post-war plundering.

America has many aspects to be proud of. Our current failed president and his grotesque foreign policy are not among them.

Republican three-star general (retired) echoes what Bilow has been saying for a long time: Success in Iraq is not an option, it's a fantasy.

Odom: Bush Should Admit Iraq Is a 'Mess' And Make Plans for a U.S. Troop Pullout by Next Year

William E. Odom, the head of the National Security Agency during the Reagan administration, says that President Bush should "eat a little humble pie," admit the invasion of Iraq was a mistake, and seek U.N. forces to take over for U.S. troops. Odom, who opposed the war before it began, argues that Iraq will never become a liberal democracy. He also warns that "we've also nearly broken the U.S. Army by over-extension and over-commitment."

Looking For The Exit

By Arnaud de Borchgrave

Gen. Odom says bluntly, "we have failed," and "the issue is how high a price we're going to pay — less by getting out sooner, or more by getting out later."
