Bush is definitely using Berg for political purposes now. He just made a speech linking Saddam to Al Qaida to Berg in order to re-justify the invasion using his original argument which was long ago discredited, that Saddam had anything to do with 9-11. Maybe there are Al Qaida units in Iraq now, but only after the invasion or because of it. What is scary is how murky everything is now, and how easily the public could be lied to. The truth is a very dangerous thing to certain interests. The CIA was very quick to ID Al Qaida as the killer of Berg, but how did they do this? We'll never know. Voice prints? Or they believe anything they see. Wasn't the guy supposed to have an amputated leg? Wasn't Berg in US custody? What's with the US style orange jumpsuit? And this makes one think about the whole Osama case and even the Saddam case. Very very shadowy area where we won't know who to trust because all sides want to use conclusions to discredit their opponents. One thing we do know, in extreme cases (like right now in Iraq) our black ops guys are capable of awful deadly stuff, as they should be. They are OUR black ops guys and they fighting an enemy over there, but the repercussions are felt very strongly in DC and in the presidential race. Remember, Bush's entire campaign is based on his perceived military strength and leadership and those numbers just plummeted. So how convenient this tape turns up. Just what Karl Rove would have liked. BTW: I also don't understand how the prison photos showed up, but at least those events we know are real and the perps are on camera with no masks.
