If you say you are a social liberal, and Paul Wellstone said he was a social liberal, haven't we just confused everyone?

"Social Liberal" means you are pro choice, neutral on drugs, and against bedroom laws, to start with. I don't think I would have too many problems with Wellstone in that area. It is the one area of agreement I have had with JohnM over the years.

The label "social liberal" isn't useful. People who believe in economic freedom claim it as well as people who don't.

Economic freedom has nothing to do with being a social liberal. A social liberal is one who believes in social freedom. Different strokes. Just don't scare the horses. I'm OK, you're OK. Privacy. The rich tapestry of society. Social liberals are opposed to bigots and blue laws and blue noses. "Social liberal" is nothing like "socialist."
