And what has been the result of N. Vietnam winning the war? Have the dominoes fallen? Is the region occupied by dangerous communists who are bent on our destruction?

They would have, had it not been for major US support of Thailand, as well as the development of a Sino-Soviet proxy war in Cambodia and Laos that had them fighting between one another..

Effectively, when the US pulled out, the Chinese and Soviets fought their own proxy war between themselves. China had little interest in seeing a Soviet proxy, control countries on China's southern border.

Many people seem to forget that after conquering S. Vietnam, Hanoi's next step was to invade and occupy Cambodia, as well as setting up a Pathet Lao government in Laos aligned with the Soviets..

Thus, this disproves the general misconception that the Vietnam war was merely a civil war, aimed at unifying the two nations.

But it's clear that this rivalry between China and the Soviets gave Thailand some effective breathing space to defend itself.
