It is unfortunate that it has given the anti-war fanatics fodder because the war is accomplishing important change in the region and the actions of these few Americans have surely put American and Iraqi civilian lives at risk.

You are right. It is giving America hatred that will linger for generations and AlQueda a wet dream of a recruiting tool.

David, RE: "How would you define torture?...(these) were not torture tactics."

Please place your partisanship down. Murder, rape and sodomy are torture - please don't lose your ethics here. Even your friend Republican Wolfwitz (SP?) said it was in violation of Geneva Convention during Congressional hearings. At a minimum, you should be extremely concerned with how they've horribly botched things and have suddenly put our security hugely at increased risk.

On a separate note, overseas it's considered very stereotypical American to redefine rules or interpretation - please don't be part of this stereotype.

RE: "I would add "systematic". There is no evidence of any systematic use of torture tactics."

It's systemic according to Special Force in Afghanistan.
