I have hung out with Kerry. He's low-key, relaxed, very warm, a great listener, friendly, sense of humor, boyish but at the same time grave, obviously brilliant without being egotistical. He does have that Kennedy vibe but in a good way, and his own way. More JFK than Bobby or Teddy.

I discussed various things with him one on one. It was like talking to an old buddy. We discussed his war record and he was very frank and open about it, without being boastful in any way. He seemed to be like a man of destiny. As if he knows he's going to be president and that he's ready. But no egotism about it.

Kerry used to be accused of being aloof but that's not true or maybe he's changed, picking up some Clinton habits. He now puts his arm around people, looks them in the eye, feels their pain, laughs with them, is on top of every question and problem, etc. And one more thing, he has a photographic memory for names and details which amazed me.
