Nothing would surprise me either. If you look at how they treat Iraqi prisoners, the sheer deadly madness of it, then why is killing a bearded smart aleck terrorist sympathizer such a big deal (if that is indeed what Berg was, and I have a feeling it was)?

Just the "coincidence" of the 19th hijacker using his email address would be enough to get tortured or killed in Baghdad I'm sure. Those prison torture experts mean business and obviously don't play by any rules. From their point of view, they probably figure they're saving US soldiers' lives by totally brutalizing anyone in their custody. And occasionally they may be right.

This by the way reminds one of the CIA run assassination and torture teams in Vietnam and Central America. Bushies pledged to make the CIA "strong" again. That is apparently what they mean. I guess they never learn since we lost both Vietnam and the Contra War. And in both cases the enemy turned out to be no great threat to us after all.
