Kenneth, I will treat you as a voice of reason. If one talks simply about the absolute level of debt - of course it is rising. I believe the total debt grew even when we were in budget surplus (someone check that out). If we are talking about whether deficits are getting worse or better - they are getting better.

Perhaps this is a perfect example of how facts can be spun to support either theory. The bottom line is the situation is not good - but it is getting better. Then the issue is how to make it better faster.

To kerry the issue - or flame it - simply polarizes and does nothning to reach a national consensus on action. Energy is another perfect example.
