Why didn't the administration ever use 9/11 as a spur to launch a Manhattan project for energy independence and conservation, so we could break out of our addiction to crude oil, slowly disengage from this region and speak truth to fundamentalist regimes, such as Saudi Arabia?

LMAO. Now, all of a sudden, the energy problem is one BUSH should have addressed (while dealing with 9/11). Why didn't Clinton do something about it? Remember him opening the reserve to help Gore out. Now, we have Bush standing on his principles and refusing to do so because the national reserve was intended for emergencies, not for political expediency.

You still have problems with reading comprehension and being partisan.
