Citizens and soldiers alike, unable to justify the occupation and destruction of Iraq and the wanton waste of human life, are demanding that Iraq be left to Iraqis. In response to this spreading anti-occupation sentiment, American citizens like me are being told that occupation forces will leave Iraq sometime after June 30, if and when Iraqis ask them to leave. Our politicians quickly try to cover this outrageous lie by adding "but I don't think Iraq will ask us to leave." Despite the daily body counts, the Bush administration wants us to believe that American forces are seen as your liberators and that the occupation forces are welcomed by most Iraqis. Many of us are stupid enough to believe it. (Twelve years ago, 23 percent of Americans over 16 couldn't read, and schools have deteriorated since then, so you can understand why so many adults believe whatever they are told on television.) People of Iraq, show the world with pictures that you want the occupation forces to leave. Paint the word GO in big letters on your buildings, on your roads, and on your vehicles so that every news media image of Iraq shows the world that you want to be left alone. Do not hope to negotiate with our lying government. You have nothing to gain and everything to lose by believing anything that comes from Washington, DC. Our politicians have no respect for property rights, and our courts have abandoned law and justice. Our federal government is out of control. More than two million Americans are in American prisons, many of them innocent and prosecuted unjustly by this unlawful government. Do not allow yourselves to be trapped by coercion and empty promises. Just tell the intruders to GO. Hang banners, signs, and posters bearing the word GO. Your rights and sovereignty will be acknowledged when all foreign forces are gone, not before. Despite your internal differences, can you not agree on that single goal? The world is watching you, and the majority of us do not want our military or our government in your country. We have no business there. Few can hear your gunshots, but all will see your signs. Show us. Tell us to GO. Mark Yannone Phoenix, Arizonamiddle-east-online.com
