I believe Rummy is smart, and very effective in convincing Bush to do what he and Carl want, but will be resigning soon.

Rumsfeld should worry about his country, not just himself.
He has consistently made huge errors in Iraq despite many warnings. Rummy does cut an impressive figure in ways, but his performance in office has been terrible. From the assertions he knew just where the WMD's were to the underestimating the cost and manpower needed for the war to the prison abuse scandals and refusal to step down. Here is a guy who is arrogant, stubborn, selfish and not very honest.
