AmyJ,
are you thinking this Cisco source code theft occurred locally and was transported to Russia? Because I really doubt that. I think Cisco sends all this IP to countries where there is no IP protection, like China for example in order to obtain cheap engineering talent and then the IP gets stolen. In this situation, it isn't really the US government's primary concern other than to try to facilitate global trade. These companies know this happens when they send their IP offshore. This is one of the advantages the US economy offers for IP development in my view.

Re: Thread, Slashdot reporting theft of Cisco IOS IP in Russia !

It's only IOS. Now 15+ years old. Who needs that crap anyway? <vbg>

Re: Cisco's corporate network was comprimised

Hmm.. And note the spelling.

IMHO, Cisco's corporate network is more secure than the Pentagon.

Re: We are truly naive and overly trusting

"Used to be" is more like it. What a wonderful heritage the USA has had. And the Silicon Valley exemplified that open culture.

The past 4 years has changed everything. Now it is mostly "the land of the paranoid".
