Rumsfeld was a relative unknown 4 weeks ago-one of the Bush team, and that's all.

TODAY he's the SYMBOL of 80% of America, representing an angry public's fight to TAKE THEIR COUNTRY BACK from the anti-American Democrat domestic enemy.

Symbols are very powerful in election years. It's always nice for us pro-Americans to have another one...

60 million of Bush's 80 million votes will be for Bush/Rumsfeld...

My principle is, if it makes no sense, it's not true. It makes no sense to connect homosexuality with the fall of empires. In fact, one of the greatest empires, the Greek, which gave us much of the best in Western culture, considered homosexual liaisons ordinary amusements -- not at the time of its fall, but throughout, and its fall had nothing to do with homosexuality. But of course there's more, if you want to get into it, like the fact that homosexuality presents no obstacle to great accomplishment. Michaelangelo and Leonardo were not the reason why Italy lost its pre-eminence as Europe's banker -- they were a reason why Italian ideas of the Renaissance spread over the known world, and broke the back of the Middle Ages.

Also -- what do you know about when Rome accepted homosexuality? Can you give me a cite?

Incidentally, Rome fell at about the time that Christianity was established. Must be that Christianity caused it, by your reasoning. But usually, historians are chary about attributing causation to correlation.

I'm assuming that the reason you aren't answering bluered's two replies to this post of yours is because you've seen the light. So it's not true that no one on SI ever changes their mind. That's encouraging.
