Yep, the futures are down, way down. Asian markets are really tanking. Major concerns are oil prices, what China is going to do with respect to slowing their economy, and the expected rise in our interest rates. I won't discuss India and their election, nor mainland China making noise about Taiwan again.

What fun!

I don't believe the "bull market" that started early last year is over. I think we are seeing a significant correction and once it's over, the bull market will continue.

Lizzie, more global turmoil: "Bomb kills president of Iraqi Governing Council"
cnn.com

Global markets are reacting to a lot of turmoil in Iraq, and also some concerns over the potential stalling of privatization in India, though I believe such concerns are an over reaction - I think the real issue was their bubble had grown a bit too high. news.yahoo.com "Congress (which is the new Prime Minister's political party) has reaffirmed its commitment to modernizing India's economy to make it a world economic superpower"

What a surprise India's moderate, business-oriented Prime Minister got pushed out during elections. They have a female Prime Minister now - something the USA is unable to attain.

It appears left-leaning parties are beginning to take over: Spain, India, and possibly the USA if Kerry polls well. People appear to be tired of violence, maybe we will see world peace. But we shouldn't leave Iraq's infrastructure in a worse situation than what it was when US entered.

Haven't seen any across the board component price increases. But believe the inflation is out of the bag. Would love to see a gas tax, while simultaneously seeing GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and other auto mfgs increase deployment of their alternative energy solutions so we can minimize our huge dependency on oil.

Regards,
Amy J

PS Amazingly a mountain lion found only a few miles from Intel, in the heart of Silicon Valley by Walter Hays Drive: paloaltoonline.com

"The mountain lion that strayed into Palo Alto residential areas this morning was shot and killed by a Palo Alto police officer about 1 p.m. today, ending a tense lion-hunt that started before dawn."
