That's correct, as the new resolution was a resolution for war. And Chirac and most of the UN said let the inspections go forward.

Looking back they were right. There was no imminent threat from WMD.

No sense looking in the rear view mirror. We went to war. We bombed Iraq. We killed 20,000 Iraqis. Now we will begin the long process of leaving Iraq. Iraqis do not have the impression of the Americans being liberators, they see us as occupiers.

Iraqis will now take the reins of power in a few more weeks. They will decide what is to go forward, not Bush. It's very likely that a theocracy will emerge in Iraq.

It's very likely that the war will prove to have been a futile exercise. The same results could have likely been attained through peaceful means.
