Undoubtedly this is the Lie of the Month usinfo.state.gov Is this a joke? Does anyone seriously expect anyone but neocons to believe this? Navy Vice Admiral Albert Church, who recently returned from a visit to the U.S. detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, says he found no current abuse of detainees being held there. Current?! WTF I doubt there is any CURRENT abuse being handed out either. What good is that? He also examined medical records looking for any sign of detainee abuse. Detainees were not interviewed, however. Yes that makes sense. Ask the people who abused the prisoners if they did it. They are supposed to say yes? All the more credible when you do not interview the prisoners. Church's mission to the facility lasted only two days: May 6-7. He said the visit by his team of 15 was not considered an inspection because there had been no allegations of abuse. Gee two whole days huh. Let's try and sweep this under the rug as fast as we can. Church said he found eight minor infractions dating back to 2002: four involving guards, three involving interrogators, and one a barber who gave an unauthorized haircut to a detainee. Gee we found an unauthorized haircut. Does anyone here believe that is all? I would say that this administration just sank to a new low in credibility, but it has no credibility left, and hasn't for a long time. Mish
