Chip, there is a way to get stockcharts to go back to 1981. You have to go up into the URL field and manually change the year. comme ca

I agree with you regarding 83...gg

I am a self taught technician so I am beholding to no books.

IMO, expanding triangles (megaphones) can be bullish (when ascending) and bearish (when descending), however most quickly drift off into irrelevancy. You really have to do your homework to find one that has enduring influence and even then the lines usually have to be periodically adjusted to keep them in play, such as the case with the NASDAQ Composite megaphone off its 1974 low. See chart below…

if you were there in 83 84 85 86 87 you would have seen it.....in fact on my DTN i can isolate those months...put in the trendlines then go to the full span and the line stays with the chart.....i can zoom right into any time frame i want...IT wuz dat chit that kept me pointed in the right direction...and believe me...it was wirf a chit...DENNY CRANE
