WASHINGTON (AFX) -- Political unrest around the globe and high oil prices could hold back the pace of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve this year. The federal funds futures market at the Chicago Board of Trade scaled back its expectations for rate hikes on Monday. The market still expects the first rate hike to come by the end of June, but the implied odds of a June 30 rate hike fell to 86 percent from 90 percent earlier. There is no chance of a half-point hike priced in. The market is pricing in rate hikes in June, August, September and November, but a possible fifth rate hike in December fell to an 18 percent chance from 55 percent earlier
