My next point is that big centralized Government, aka Socialism growing and growing until the Government owns everything and all means of production including the people is no utopian society. Look at how the percentage of GDP that comes from Government gets bigger each and every year. What happens when this number reaches critical mass? What happens when your taxes are 80% or 90%? Is your standard of living higher or lower? Does the Government know the first thing about efficiently running businesses? Does the Government have any incentive to be as efficient as private enterprise? There are no checks or balances on such a Government. Today the two major parties don't check each other. The courts so rarely rule a law unconstitutional that there is no check on the congress and senate. The senate never impeaches judges for gutting constitutional rights.
