From that one could surmise that there would be several dinners at the White House, that the fashion hounds from Hollywood would be invited, and that they or their daughters would attend and wear something like that dress.

Good grief. I gave you a chance to back off gracefully.

What one wears to the Cannes Film Festival is not what one wears to a state dinner just as what one wears to play tennis is not what one wears to a funeral. If you wouldn't assume she'd wear a tennis dress to a state dinner or a funeral, then you you shouldn't assume she would wear that translucent number, either. Besides, if anyone showed up at a state dinner looking like that, the WH has people whose job it would be to escort her either to a dressing room with appropriate attire or to the door.
