Why should the Palestinians comply with Oslo when the Israelis won't? Why do you keep trying to set up a double standard? "So he's offering a trade" Sharon is offering nothing but to leave gaza, there's no trade. The sides are not talking, Israel is acting unilaterrally. It has no choice, the PA don't communicate, at least lately, other than through violence. Any reasonably aware person can see that implicit in Sharon's willingness to leave Gaza is his intent not to vacate the WB. "And Sharon's behavior brings hardship to the Israelis" Friend of mine recently returned from a three week vacation in Israel. He had a great time, exploring old ruins and seeing the religious sites. He even did a spot of gambling for a few nights with Arab folk from, I'm not sure where, but not Israel, at the Hilton in Sinai, right across from the border with Israel. The Taba Hilton, or something like that. Four star hotel for $100 a night, or was it $200, either way, cheap classy place to stay. Life is pretty good for Israelis of all stripes. Unemployment is high and Israel is running a huge budget deficit.........inflation increasingly is a problem. The nearly $4 billion in aid we give Israel each year helps to stave off serious problems. Israel better wake up soon........American largesse has to change. We can no longer afford to prop up a country like Israel at the expense of Muslim world.
