The way I look at it, if there's a man who is so purely evil that the cops are afraid of him, then he's what I call a "man who needs killing" and I wouldn't blink twice if someone killed him, nor lift a finger to harm a hair on their head.

But if years pass and he's no longer dangerous then he's no longer a man who needs killing. Then let the law do its job, or if not, I'd still look the other way if one of his victims decided to finish him off.

But you don't send a posse or a lynch mob after a man who's not a clear and present threat.

I can't say it any clearer than that. The law can be bent or ignored when it's absolutely necessary for the good of the community as a whole, but otherwise, you go by the rules.

The law serves man, but man also serves the law.
