Earlie, not sure on what one can base his analysis, except on government statistics.

It is unfortunate that Clinton administration started a trend of "publishing magic" numbers which this administration is plain abusing.

No clue how to deal with published statistics and reaction of the financial markets...to this .... the answer lies with an friend of mine who manages several hundred million and he stopped reading statistics and for that matter financial news papers as he maintains they are feed what ever the source wants to be published.

He developed several regression models of baskets of stock and trades them as a basket at a time until it stops working - then changes the mix. (well I put in a simplistic way but that is how he works)

As such he cares less about market up or down and collects 1/8 to 1/4 with transaction cost of 2 to 3 pennies. Now he is hiring more mathematicians for modeling.

Requirements – be clueless about financial markets – but great in mathematical modeling.

All in all he get increased funds to manage and makes a nice living, and does not waste his time reading biased financial reports and financial news
