At least Iraq had a road system and seaports. It is probably impossible to supply and feed that many troops in Afghanistan. On top of that, 200,000 probably probably represents half of the combat troops in the U.S. Military! re:"Yet in the mean time 200,000 troops should have been deployed to Afghanistan in an all out root out of bin Laden." Saddam invaded Iran, and roughly a million people were killed. Yes, maybe the Reagan Administration gave satellite info to Iraq during the war. And maybe the Carter Administration gave the green light for the invasion in the first place. But the attack was initiated by Saddam. Iraq soldiers attacked and invaded Iran, not American. 100,000 killed as a result of his invasion of Kuwait - you can make excuses for Saddam, but the invasion of Kuwait was Saddams fault! For over a decade, American policy was based on protecting Kuwait - which is why Kuwaiti tankers were reflagged to the United States during the Iran/Iraq war (and not Iraqi tankers). If the United States helped Iraq, it was only because during the Iran/Iraq war, Iraq was preceved as indirectly protecting Kuwait (and Saudi Arabia). And Saddam knew this. Estimates are that at least a million were killed by Saddam during UN Sanctions - due to the Oil for Food Program (he had the money to feed and medicate these people. Saddam used the money instead, to bribe UN Officials, build palaces, and diverting the Euphrates River so that he could commit genocide against the Marsh Arabs - population roughly 500,000 in 1990 - 20,000 in 2003). Finially roughly 300,000 domestic political enemies, and 50,000 Kurds were killed by his regime. Adds up to easily 120,000 a year or 10,000 a month. A million here, a hundred thousand there, adds up. BTW, how does 120,000 per year add up to 20,000 a month? re: "You say that Saddam was killing 20,000 every month. I don't think that you can prove that. That is a number you pulled out of your butt. "
