Sarin I understood the injection for sarin is to avoid panic in the battlefield. actually if you think you need it ,,, it is too late.

Sarin, which was described here earlier as easy to treat, is 500x more toxic than cyanide. One untreated drop can kill a man.

Soldiers are taught to use an atropine self-injector at the first sign of any nerve agent poisoning. But you are probably right. Nerve agents are very fast acting and can render a man helpless in 10 seconds.

The version Saddam used to kill and maim the Kurds is widely believed to have included mustard gas and VX. VX is a deadlier and much more persistent nerve agent. An amount of VX equal to the head of a pin is sufficient to kill. Mustard gas is wickedly painful burning both the skin and lungs.

The biggest problem for our troops is they cannot quickly judge what a round has in it. Could be high explosives but could also be saddam's mix of Sarin, VX, or mustard or all three. Everytime they come under fire now, they have to consider Chemical countermeasures.

By using these rounds, the terrorists have escalated the potential cost. They have raised the potential cost of combat several notches. Our commanders will not tolerate it. They will do everything possible to eliminate this threat as quickly as possible. We may have seen a sign of that last night with the report of 50 terrorists kia and no reports of captured enemy. It is showtime now not playtime.
