I won't go into a long diatribe why I disagree; if I do 60mph in a school zone to protest unjust traffic enforcement, that doesn't mean that school zones should be scrapped. It means I should get a ticket. We need a cop on the corner by the school. If I go beat up someone at the supermarket who supports Bush and get away with it once or twice, we shouldn't scrap our laws against assault. I shouldn't go on a binge of assaulting every Young Republican I encounter. If I do, I stand for nothing except the rabble of the mob, just another petty tyranny with no moral standing or moral vision to offer as an alternative to what I may hate. I don't agree with the old saw that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. It's a Pandora's box that never ends well.
