I heard something yesterday on the news. I think they said 30 refineries have been shut down, without building replacements, over the last 25 years. Shell is closing down their Bakersfield refinery in the next few months. No upgrade, no sale; close it down.

Not only are there more cars worldwide, but a lot of them get worse mileage (SUVs), and ...

There is less oil in the ground than 20 years ago. They aren't make it much anymore. I think we have a dinosaur shortage. I wonder if some enterprising company is trying to figure out how to make oil out of atmospheric CO2.

Time to burn some gas. My pick-up gets a few mpg < my old VW van, but at least all 4 wheels have power.
