There is no way we can protect them unless we take draconian measures which will bring charges of heavy handedness from the Grecians and the euroPEONS. (G) Mike

The Olympic movement should be above politics. Yes, it would be nice if it was above politics. Without digging into each tournament, I think it is safe to say that politics has been a part of the tournament since at least 1936, when Jesse Owens played a big role in the 100, 200, 400 and broad jump. That was known as the "Hitler Olympics". The purpose of my prior post was merely an off-hand comment about Carter. In the present case, it really doesn't matter what decision GWB makes since it is a lose-lose situation for him. It he curtails participation, he will be criticized. If he does nothing and some of our people get injured or killed he will be criticized. I am glad I don't have to make the decision.
