But 1972 was out-of-the-blue and not predicted. In 1980 we did not anticipate any Soviets shooting our guys - we were just protesting their invasion of Afghanistan.

However, I agree that in todays environment - Spitz may want to pull our team back if we anticipate an attack.

I believe the 68 Olymics were in Mexico.

The 72 Israeli Olympic team massacre happened at FurstenfeldBruch German Air Force Base. A small German base just outside (West) of Munich. Munich is where the Olympics were being held. Been there many times, both Munich and Fursty, including 72...but prior to the incident. The Baader Meinhof terrorists were very active in Germany that year.
