They can degrade over time but if the two components are separate and in air tight containers it will still be close to 100% for many years.

I don't get the rust angle. I'd think any projectile would be mainly lead with a copper coating. Possibly a steel tip.

I tried to ask my husband about the precursors for Sarin but he was on the way out the door to Bible study. He says his recollection is that they're stable.
