Nah Michael your right....in a real melt down, guns, food water will be king....gold is a matter of perception, IMO Gold will have a new Bull run come fall...they will attribute that run to all the same reasons they have in the past....but the truth will be...Golds upward move will be tied to who ownes the gold.....the positionings been going on for several years...the next wave up will reward the annointed...right place right time....gee whats so unusual about that.

Michael..... The intimidation and use of fear to sell gold and it's by products is an intolerable practice. To prey on the bare bones of our economic insecurity is a nasty business.... many of us.... with the well placed "Perfect Storm" live but a few short months from poverty.

Mahendra is a "true believer" in his ability to see the future as practiced by Vedic Astrologers.... but he could well turn out to be just another gold-bug caste to wind to join that illustrious group of melted down gold bugs.

In order for our fiat currency system to totally fall apart.... there would have to be a series of events so dramatic as to change the very face of our modern lives. Nothing we can do about it....

If that were to happen... Greenspan and his international counterparts would no doubt have a system back up and running within weeks.

If that was unsuccessful... Gold and Silver coins are the worst thing to own.
Studies have been done in both Japan and Germany after the collapse of their monetary systems. Gold and Silver objects of all kinds flooded the market place to buy staples and they lost their buying power very quickly. The most valuable commodities were soap, candles and beer in that order. So lets stockpile knowledge and materials to make those 3 items. <smile>
