NYT editors must have been napping when that article passed by them.

Editors don't have an control over columnists, but I take your point nonetheless. It was startling. I'm surprised at Safire. Something pushed his buttons, buttons I didn't know he had. He's always so cool and controlled.

NYTimes part of communist conspiracy or now its the islamic conspiracy. I read the paper every day. I see the bias on the editorial page. Occasionally there is a dumb (biased) news story or a particular news event is overplayed, but all and all its still the nation's best paper. Brooks and Safire are regulars as are Krugman and Dowd. Krugman is a joke. He keeps rewriting the same article over and over again. But all and all its a representative op-ed page. Many republicans read the paper as well but i guess you are not interested in getting the votes of folks who have differences with the way the war has been handled. Mike
