Kerry is very restrained in his criticism of Bush. He is trying to create some space for Bush to exercise some leadership but Bush refuses to lead so the problems just get worse.

Wednesday May 19, 2004--America's economic confidence has now fallen to the lowest level of 2004.

The Rasmussen Consumer Index lost a point-and-a-half on Wednesday to 105.5. Prior to today, the lowest level reached in 2004 low was 105.8. The Consumer Index, which measures the economic confidence of American consumers on a daily basis, is down four from a week ago, down five from a month ago and down eleven from three months ago.

After falling six points on Tuesday, the Rasmussen Investor Index fell another point on Wednesday to 124.8. This is just the third time all year that the Index has fallen below the 125 mark. The Investor Index is down five from a week ago, down five from a month ago and down eighteen from three months ago.

Today's Investor Index reading matches April 1 as the second lowest of the year. The lowest mark, 123.1, was reached April 2.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Americans say that their personal finances are good or excellent. Thirty-seven percent (37%) say fair and 23% poor.

Why have consumers and investors lost confidence in the Bush economy? Haven't they heard about the economic recovery? Why are they so pessimistic?
