I disagree that it's a "bogeyman" article, I think the author raises a sensitive issue that's getting short shrift.

Not all evangelicals believe that US foreign policy in Israel should be conducted so as to facilitate End Times as predicted in the Book of Revelations. Most mainstream Christians think that's whacko, as nuts as Lyndon Larouche.

I don't know whether Rick Perlstein is Jewish or not, but I think it's fair criticism either way for him to point out to Israelis that the loony branch of the Evangelicals may not be the Zionist's best ally when it comes to peace in Israel.

Not all that different from what Friedman said that made Nadine angry, maybe. Don't let the religious fanatics call the shots. They don't want peace, they want victory, and believe that God requires it.
