Kerry's Boat Mate Talks About John

To be honest, when I first met John Kerry 35 years ago, I was a little skeptical. Here he was a Yale graduate, thinking he could hang in the jungle with a bunch of working class kids. After a few patrols and seeing him under fire, I knew John was more than an officer -- he was a leader. Every day on that swift boat, I put my life in John Kerry's hands. I can tell you from experience, there's nothing like having John Kerry as your commanding officer.

Now, over the past few weeks, John has come under attack and, once again, his old swift boat crews went into the line of fire with him -- and we are honored that you came with us. We are going toe-to-toe with the Bush-Cheney campaign right now, but the attacks that are coming are getting twice as bad. We really need your help.

This campaign has been incredible because of you. All of us out campaigning know what you have done. John has asked his supporters for a lot and I know many of you have given to the campaign. But we need to make this "Miracle in May" happen; not just for my boat skipper, John Kerry but so all Americans can feel what it's like to have a real leader in command.

John Kerry has always had unfailing instinct and unchallengeable leadership and the decisions he made 35 years ago saved my life. There is nobody else who I would want as Commander in Chief.

I hope I can count on you in November.

Thank you,
