At least tornadoes go on bye most of the time. Earthquakes can be felt 10's and sometimes 100's of miles away. They are also much more frequent than tornadoes, which most of the time you can see coming and have time to get to shelter.

Yup, So. Calif is pretty much safe from tornadoes.
