When Edwarda, a beloved poster on SI, became sick with a devastating illness, JLA flew down to New York to check on her condition and help advise her cousin, the closest next of kin on the scene. He would call me with reports, and I would relay them to those waiting to hear something on SI. This is just one example of a bond that I have formed with him over the years, that overcomes some of our differences.
