(REUTERS) Intel shareholders pass option expensing proposal

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 19 (Reuters) - Shareholders of
Intel Corp., <INTC.O> the world's largest microchip maker, on
Wednesday approved a proposal urging the company's board to
treat employee stock options as a business expense.
The shareholder vote, at the company's annual meeting, flew
in the face of the strongly-held view by Intel senior
management that expensing option costs would be bad for the
company and for the high-tech industry as a whole.
