I don't question Kerry's bravery. He clearly risked his life. I however did not like him using Vietnam for political gain, disparaging fellow soldiers, exagerating/lying about his participating in atrocities/war crimes blasting away at civilians in free fire zones which he now says he didn't do. He hurt a lot of Vietnam Veterans by saying that atrocities were committed as a common occurence. My uncle was a Battalion Commander in Vietnam in 1968. Several instances of the media fishing for a war crimes story are in a book written by his Executive Officer, Mahler. These atrocities were anything but commonplace. Illegal killings were prosecuted. Kerry was a hero right up until the point he joined up with Hanoi Jane.
