Your comment makes no sense Nicky/Rodney and you ought to know that - you would know that - if only you knew how to trade. Or invest. But enough of that... There is nothing better for a "day" trader than volatility. Volatility and speed are everything while range contraction and loss of velocity is anathema to short term traders. May 19 was a gift, not a curse. The only traders who get spanked on such days are those who have a single-minded, blinders-on-full, sense of direction.
